SouthernCostaRica.comSouthernCostaRica.com is a regional travel guide to Costa Rica's southern Pacific coast and the mountains inland. It covers Dominical, Uvita, Ojochal, the Osa Peninsula, Drake Bay, Puerto Jiménez, Golfito and the Golfo Dulce, plus San Isidro de El General and Chirripó. The site is part of the EasyCostaRica network of travel guides.
How we research
Each guide is built from official sources first. For park rules, we use the National System of Conservation Areas (SINAC) and its regional offices, such as the Osa Conservation Area (ACOSA). For tourism information, we use the Costa Rica Tourism Board (ICT). Laws and decrees come from Costa Rica's official legal database.
Drive and flight times are approximate. We use Costa Rica Tourism Board (ICT) figures where published, OpenStreetMap routing for other drive times, and ICT for flight times; when ICT and routing figures disagree, the ICT figure takes precedence and the conflicting routing time is dropped.
Each guide shows the month it was last reviewed.

Some pages include links to booking partners for stays and tours. These are marked "Partner link." If you book through one, the site may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Partners don't pay for placement, and they don't review or approve our copy. Read the full disclosure for details.
Official links, such as SINAC's online reservation system for Chirripó, are never partner links. They carry no partner label and earn nothing.

Photos come from licensed sources, including WildPhotography.com, and show wildlife and landscapes typical of southern Costa Rica and the wider country.
Corrections
Rules, roads and services in the south change often, especially in the rainy months and around the parks. If you spot something out of date, please tell us through our contact page. We review each report, fix errors we can confirm and update the reviewed date on the page.
Who it's for
This site is for nature lovers, wildlife photographers, couples, outdoor families and independent travelers who want to plan a realistic trip through the south. It is not a booking agency, and we don't sell tours or rooms ourselves.
